The Global Guatemalan Adoption Community

The global Guatemalan Adoption community is made up of many organizations in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Netherlands, France, Belgium, Norway, and Israel. We aim to work together for the support of people adopted from Guatemala around the world.

United States

  • Families With Children From Guatemala
    We are a group for Families who have adopted a child or children from Guatemala.
  • Guate US
    We are a get together of families that have adopted from Guatemala. Our focus is on building bonds that last a lifetime – between our kids, between our families, and between us as adults and as adoptive parents.
  • East Bay Guatemalan Adoptive Families
    We are a group of families living in the San Francisco East Bay Area, with children adopted from Guatemala.
  • Guatemala Adoption and DNA Connections
    We are a place for Guatemalan adoptees and their birth and/or adoptive parents/guardians to identify and build relationships through DNA connections. The group also includes general posts regarding Guatemala adoption related topics. The group administrators are Maria Wisniewski and Dennis Ward.
  • Guatemala Connections
    We welcome everyone that is connected to Guatemala through adoption. Let us support each other, through an exchange of ideas, and explore the challenges of raising Guatemalan born children. The group seeks to also invite adult adoptees to give voice to a more holistic picture of adoption. At times, conversation will be difficult, challenging, and will require members to view things through a new lens often requiring adoptive parents to understand issues of privilege in this process.
  • Teens Adopted from Guatemala
    A peer support group for adoptees from Guatemala, ages 13-21, designed to provide a fun small community for adoptees to connect, learn a little bit about their country, and share/relate to some of the struggles adoption entails.
  • Annual  Pittsburgh Teen Meetup
    An annual meetup event for teen adoptees and their families. Maria Wisniewski is the host of this event.
  • Family Tree DNA – Guatemala Adoption Connections
    This group is for connecting and sharing information on specific DNA matches that are related to Guatemalan adoptions.
  • DFW Guatemala Families Group
    We are a group of families in the Dallas/Fort Worth area who have adopted children from Guatemala.

    We are a community group that tries to help families find their children / parents

Canada

  • Our Guatemala : Travel with Purpose
    Our staff and projects share our unique connections in Guatemala and plan very personalized itineraries and groups. We want to introduce more people to the needs of children and families, community development, the adventure of Guatemala, everything! We invite our village to join us.
  • Canadian-Guatemalan Adoptee Connect
    A closed group for Canadian adoptees adopted from Guatemala. It is the hope that here you can feel free to express your feelings and thoughts as an adoptee from Guatemala. This is where we hope you find “family”.
  • Estamos Aqui /Nous sommes ici
    Our main objective is to bring these people together so that they can learn about their own history, help them find their biological families and connect with their roots.

  • Racines Perdues Raices Perdidas
    We are an foundation from Belgium who help adoptees find their lost roots. Our research is spread over more than twenty countries. We are campaigning to denounce this intolerable truth, out of duty of memory and justice.

  • Association des Parents Adoptifs d’Enfants du Guatemala
    We are the Association of Adopting Parents of Children of Guatemala. To date we have brought together more than 400 families across France. Are you adoptive parents or adopted children in Guatemala, do you care about adoption in Guatemala, or are you interested in the beautiful country of Guatemala? You will find on this site the dates of the various events, picnics, and various information related to Guatemala.
  • Adoptés du Guatemala – La Voix des Adoptés
    The Guatemala cell of the association “La Voix Des Adoptés” supports adoptees who wish to tell their story, talk about their questions or doubts. The volunteers listen attentively and invite the adoptees to speak to the groups in the VDA’s offices. The cellule Guatemala of La voix des Adoptés also organizes convivial meetings and cultural events.

    We are looking for our lost family and are activists to get justice for illegal adoption in France.

United Kingdom

  • Guatemala Families Association
    We are a charity for families living in the UK who have adopted children from Guatemala and for Guatemalan adoptees wishing to meet up or be in touch with others with a similar background and heritage. The main aim of the GFA is to actively support children and adults adopted from Guatemala and now living in the UK by organizing social events and opportunities to get together and network with other families and adoptees.

    Guateniños is an association for parents who have adopted from Guatemala and the adopted children themselves. The association wants to promote contact between this target group by exchanging experiences through the newsletter and by organizing meetings, including an annual reunion. This concerns both the experiences related to the adoption and information about the country of Guatemala.

    A group to promote travel exchange between Guatemalan adoptees. We live around the world and want to welcome adoptees to our home countries.

    We are a global community of people adopted from Guatemala. Our mission is to build community among adult Guatemalan adoptees and provide opportunities for adoptees to find their identity.
